Florida Panthers star forward Matthew Tkachuk spoke Wednesday about the death of his longtime friend and former Calgary Flames teammate Johnny Gaudreau, calling him "the most offensively talented player I've ever seen.
Gaudreau's memory 'will go on forever,' Tkachuk says
Tkachuk is not the only Panthers player with direct ties to Gaudreau. Forward Sam Bennett was also his teammate in Calgary from 2015-21, and defenseman Adam Boqvist played with him in Columbus the past two seasons before signing with Florida on July 9.
The Lightning selected Victor Hedman as the team captain, making the big defenseman the successor to Steven Stamkos.
