A paratrooper of the 82nd Airborne Division died in a training event. Private First Class Matthew Perez, who was assigned to the Third Brigade Combat Team died from injuries sustained during training on Friday at the Joint Readiness Training Center,

Pfc. Matthew Perez died as a result of injuries sustained while training at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Johnson, Louisiana.

Pfc. Matthew Perez was assigned to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, according to a statement issued by Lt. Col. Cesar Santiago, director of the 82nd Airborne Division Public Affairs. He sustained fatal injuries while training at the Joint Readiness Training Center in Fort Polk, Louisiana, Santiago said.
