Metallica is one of the greatest bands of all time. And now, they’re headed to Blacksburg. Since the year 2000, the Virginia Tech Hokies have been using Metallica’s hit “Enter Sandman” as the team’s entrance song as Lane Stadium rocks.

Metallica is coming to Blacksburg as part of its M72 World Tour, marking 25 years of its iconic song playing as the Hokies take the field.

In what seems like a long, overdue day, Metallica has announced they will be holding a concert in Blacksburg in 2025.

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - Rock band Metallica is headed to Blacksburg. The band, whose 1991 song “ Enter Sandman ” is used as a football anthem by the Virginia Tech Hokies, will perform at Lane Stadium May 7, 2025. The show at Lane Stadium will mark the culmination of 20+ years of “Enter Sandman” playing as the Hokies take the field.
