In Southern California, two counties are sending crews to Orange County after eight firefighters there were injured in a crash. They will help in the battle against the devastating Airport Fire, which is now more than 50% contained after days of progress.

All eight passengers in a firefighting vehicle that overturned were hospitalized, with six sustaining severe injuries.

Officials provided an update Friday on the eight firefighters injured during a rollover crash on an Orange County freeway Thursday night. Chip Yost reports for the KTLA 5 Morning News on Sept 20, 2024.

Many of the injured are going to be hospitalized for quite a while,’ OCFA Fire Chief Brian Fennessy said at Orange County Global Medical Center on Friday.

Four firefighters who had been battling the Airport fire remained hospitalized after their vehicle rolled over on State Route 241.

Eight firefighters were injured, including six critically, after a fire truck rolled over and crashed on a California freeway on Thursday evening.
